Why is fundraising so important?

 

The money raised through the KES PTO fundraising is vital to the KES experience.  For the 2009-2010 school year, KES PTO fundraising dollars paid for:

 

ü      over 40 curriculum-enhancing field trips and in-school special enrichment programs across all grades for every student at KES

ü      Childrens author visits to KES

ü      Character Education Assemblies

ü      Copies of Three Cups of Tea for every classroom, so each student could read this book during PARP month

ü      Classroom and school library books not otherwise provided by the school district 

ü      A Polar Heart Rate Monitor to be shared and used for curriculum-based activities in math, science and writing

ü      Community Edible Garden and Greenhouse programs

ü      Ice pops for the children after the KES Olympics

ü      Do the Write Thing creative writing workshops

ü      Environmental Footprinting Day and upcoming school assembly

ü      Contributions to 5^th grade Moving Up events

ü      School Wide Welcome Back to School Picnic

ü      Parenting Talk Series focused on issues to benefit KES Parents

ü      KES PTO Chronicle, of student writing and artwork

ü      PTO Website, providing information to the school population

ü      Scholarship for graduating JJHS student who attended KES

ü      Staff Recognition Luncheon and Staff Welcome Back to School Lunch

ü      Sponsor of Music and Smores Night at Katonah Memorial Park Shelter

ü      Support of SEPTA, Family University and School Based Compact Team

ü      Financial assistance for numerous programs and events After School Activities, Spring Fling and other KES PTO events

 

What types of fundraising?

KES PTO raises money through a variety of programs and events: 

 

        i.            Halloween Fair and Spring Fling

 

Two of the biggest fundraisers for the KES PTO are the Halloween Fair and Spring Fling. In addition to raising much needed funds for the KES PTO, the children and their families look forward to and enjoy these events. These are also community events bringing together families from the greater Katonah area.

 

      ii.            Other fundraising campaigns

 

The KES PTO also raises money through the Innisbrook campaign, After School Activities, Language Activities, book fairs, directory sales, the Holiday Boutique, back to school supplies, school pictures and more.  In addition to these fundraisers, the fifth grade runs a number of fundraisers to pay for their year end trip.  The fifth grade car wash is a favorite.

 

    iii.            Spirit Wear

 

The KES PTO offers a large variety of merchandise and clothing for the whole family to enjoy and to show off KES school spirit and let everyone know that . . .

All of the fundraising efforts are driven by pure manpower.  Where you can, please volunteer to help on a committee of your choice. Every little bit helps. If you want to help with any of the fundraisers, please contact us at kespto@gmail.com.

 

We are also mindful that the success of any fundraising program is measured by the amount of the money that can be raised.  Where you can, please support the fundraising programs.

KES PTO has a drop box located in the front office for KES families to deposit used ink cartridges.  Periodically these will be returned to Staples and Staples will annually send a check to the KES PTO based on the number of cartridges returned.

It is good for KES and it is good for the Earth!

The KES PTO will receive 4%-6% for purchases made through the amazon.com portal on the KES PTO home page.  In the past 12 months, the KES PTO has received over $200 simply by your accessing amazon through our portal.

 

Keep in mind that you need to enter Amazon through the portal on the KES PTO website (click here to be redirected). You can then save the items in your shopping cart, and KES PTO will automatically be credited with a portion of your purchase.

It's so easy! You can earn money for KES at no additional cost to you by doing what you already do -- shopping with your favorite merchants for your everyday purchases.  The way it works is that the school earns contributions with every eligible purchase you make.  If interested, go to www.onecause.com to join and to learn about participating merchants.

You order A&P gift cards, at face value, in $25, $50 or $100 denominations.  You receive 100% of the value and the KES PTO gets 5% back! These funds will go into the PTO general fund to support programs for our children. If you are interested in participating, you can do so by simply submitting the order form , along with your payment, no later than the 15^th to each month to KES PTO via back pack mail.  Please make all checks payable to KES PTO.  Gift cards will be distributed to you within 7 to 10 business days after the 15^th of the month via backpack mail, or if you wish, you can make alternate arrangements to pick up your card. The cards are accepted at any A&P location and have no expiration date.
