The PTO Language Activities
Committee (LAC) is pleased to once again offer a selection of Spanish,
French and Chinese classes.
Our teachers are carefully
chosen for their expertise and experience. We are happy to have Jacquline Zerrate returning to
teach Spanish and French, and Peiling Liu returning
to teach Chinese.
Registration forms ONLY will
be sent out via backpack. The LAC Brochure will only be available on the PTO
website except for those families who have opted to receive all communications
via hard copy versus email. Registration will begin on January 3, 2011. The deadline for registration forms is 3:40 p.m. on
Monday, January 10th, 2011.
Please send your registration form and check via backpack mail to the KES PTO
ATTN. LAC.
Due to a large number of
applicants, if a class is over-subscribed, students will be chosen by lottery.
Even though we will do our best to accommodate as many children as we can, we
ask for your understanding.
Morning classes will begin at
8:10 am and children will be dismissed directly to their class at 9:10 am. At
morning drop off, you must escort your child to the language classroom and
sign the attendance sheet. Please stay with your child, if the instructor
has not arrived yet. The office staff is not responsible for children in the
building before the school day starts.
We look forward to another
exciting and enriching season!

Program Information and Procedures
1.
Classes begin Monday, January 24, 2011.
2.
The total cost for the class is $115.
3.
Registration forms and payment are due no later than 3:40 p.m. on Monday
January 10, 2011.
4.
A separate check is required for each student and class. Please make checks out
to KES PTO.
5.
Please send your registration form and check via backpack mail to the PTO Attn
LAC.
6.
If financial assistance is needed, please contact the KES Social Worker at
763-7746.
7.
Students will be placed according to whether they have already had some
exposure to the LAC or KES language program, or if they are a beginner student.
Please indicate on your registration form whether your child is a beginner
or returning/experience student and your first, second and third choice of day
and time for a class.
8.
Once your childs class has been confirmed, please send a note to your
childs teacher informing him or her that your child will be participating in
the PTO Language Activities program, on which day and the time. Please feel
free to use the attached form.
9.
For afternoon classes, please send an extra snack for your child to eat
while attendance is being taken in the cafeteria.
10.
Morning Classes start at 8:10 am. Please use the Main door and escort
your child to the classroom and sign them in. The instructor will dismiss your
child to their regular teachers at 9:10 am. Afternoon classes will start at
3:50 pm and dismissal will be from the gym at 4:50 pm. Please be on time
for pick up! You must park ONLY in designated parking areas. Parking
around the circle prevents traffic from flowing smoothly and creates a
dangerous situation for the children at dismissal.
11.
Children in afternoon classes will be released only to those you have listed on
the registration form, unless you send a permission note. If someone not listed
will be picking up your child, send the note to the attention of Pat McGinn, the afternoon Program Facilitator, via backpack
mail.
12.
On those days that your child attends school, but will not be staying for his
or her afternoon PTO Language Activities class, you must also send a note to
Pat McGinn, through backpack mail.
We
take our responsibility for your childs safety very seriously. If your child
is expected to attend afternoon LAC but does not attend, we consider the child
missing and, together with the office staff, classroom teachers, and
transportation department we begin an urgent search until your child is
located.
13.
PTO Language Activities afternoon classes are not held on early dismissal days.
Morning classes will be held, unless otherwise notified. No classes are held
when school is closed.
14.
In case of inclement weather, check the Katonah-Lewisboro
School District website, www.klschools.org, or listen to WHUD 100.7 FM. Classes
canceled due to inclement weather, or for any other reason, will be rescheduled
at the end of the program, if possible.
15.
